What is the difference between Mirka 2.5 and 5?
A larger eccentricity (e.g., 5.0mm) is well-suited for faster material removal, while a smaller eccentricity (e.g., 2.5mm) is ideal for achieving a finer, more refined finish. The choice depends on the specific needs of your project.
What is the best type of sander for wood?
We suggest you begin with a random-orbit sander. Convenient and easy to use, it can handle a broad variety of DIY projects. Though it won't strip away rough wood as efficiently as a belt sander nor fit into tight corners with the same ease of an oscillating multitool, it can do most tasks adequately with the correct sandpaper grit.
Why is it called orbital sander?
It's called an orbital sander because of the orbital motion it uses to sand surfaces. The sanding pad on the tool moves very small orbits (circular patterns).
