Continuing their track record of producing outstanding surface preparation products to suit any indoor or outdoor painting project, Zinsser have once again blown us away with Zinsser Peel Stop, Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3, and  Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer.

Each is an amazing surface preparation product capable of producing a smooth and ready surface for the application of topcoat. Each of these Zinsser surface preparation products is water-based, which means they are quick-drying and are the key to a quick and easy project.

Just in case you were wondering which was right for your project, the Zinsser Bunch has produced a series of helpful videos, featuring David D'Amico from Sublime Painting and Decorating, Bert Bartha from Excellent Coatings, and Chris Leonard from Crisp Edge Paint. PaintAccess has now made each of those videos available on YouTube.

In each case, an industry expert shows you what you can do with Zinsser’s great surface preparation products:

  • David prepares a damaged laundry ceiling with Zinsser Peel Stop, binding peeling and flaking paint edges to produce a smooth surface ready for the application of Zinsser Paint and Prime Ceiling Paint.
  • Bert shows us what Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3 can do when he prepares a metal surface outdoors. After some sanding and cleaning, the metal is ready for Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3. The result? See for yourself - a smooth, clean surface ready for painting.
  • Chris Leonard from Crisp Edge Paint takes it to the extreme with Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer, painting a section of PVC pipe. That’s right, he wants to apply regular outdoor acrylic to a piece of plastic pipe, and succeeds with Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer. Crazy stuff.

Of course, all of these great Zinsser surface preparation products are available from PaintAccess, so you can start work on your project right away. Ordering is easy and if you need additional information, advice or support, we have experts ready to help you. There are no silly questions - we would rather you feel well-informed and confident about your project before you order products and start work. More appealing surface preparation with Zinsser Peel Stop...

Zinsser has a great range of surface preparation products, many of which are designed to prepare damaged surfaces. Zinsser Peel Stop is the latest to be reviewed for PaintAccess.com.au by David D'Amico from Sublime Painting and Decorating.

David shows us just how effective Zinsser Peel Stop is - in this case - to prepare a damaged laundry ceiling. Cleaning the surface to remove loose sections of peeling paint, David then applies Zinsser Peel Stop which binds the cracked and peeling edges of old paint to provide a smooth surface.

David follows the layer of Zinsser Peel Stop with a layer of Zinsser Paint and Prime Ceiling Paint, which goes on pink but dries white. It’s mould-resistant so it’s a great choice here for a laundry ceiling where moisture and steam could be an issue. It’s always good to know that when you finish a big project you won’t need to come back to that same ceiling or wall in a few months because your surface preparation didn’t do its job.

Zinsser Peel Stop binds the flaky and loose edges together and to previous layers of paint, holding those edges in place and stopping the peeling process. And of course Zinsser Peel Stop is water-based and suitable for both interior and exterior surfaces.

Zinsser Peel Stop is available from PaintAccess.com.au, where you can also get expert advice about your project and the surface preparation and pain products that are right for you.

It’s as easy as Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3

Excellent news! Bert Bartha from Excellent Coatings is back to talk about Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3, the all-in-one undercoat, primer sealer and stain blocker. Super-popular with PaintAccess.com.au customers, Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3 is versatile and fast-drying.

Because Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3 is a primer sealer it is rust-inhibitive and stops oxidisation which stops metal surfaces from rusting, or continuing to rust beneath your paint. That makes it perfect for painting metal surfaces, even outside!

Best of all, it’s water-based, which means it dries quickly and you can apply a second coat or topcoat after just 1 hour, making your project quicker and easier. For outside jobs, that’s especially important because you don’t want to spend more time in the direct sun than you need to. With Zinsser, your surfaces will be protected from direct sunlight, but you still need to take all normal sun-safe precautions.

As always, Bert is keen to make sure we read the on-tin instructions, review the product’s safety data sheet, and put on all necessary PPE. That’s particularly important when preparing metal surfaces where loose rust flakes and old lead-based paint might be present. Thanks Bert!

Once your surface is prepared, dry, and free of any large rust-flakes you can apply your Zinsser Bulls Eye 1.2.3. Apply a second coat if necessary, or apply your topcoat directly to your prepared surface.

Extreme results with Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer!

The always-informative.

In a previous video, we showed you how Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer could be used to prepare bathroom tiles for painting (rather than replacing them). This time, Chris is outside where Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer is just as effective.

So what is Chris painting today? Something normal like a brick wall or weatherboard? No, this is Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer so Chris is doing something extreme - painting a section of PVC pipe. That’s right… plastic pipe. Outside.

Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer produces a “rough key” (surface) which allows subsequent paint to stick more effectively. It does this while adhering to the surface underneath, ensuring an outstanding finish, even on the most extreme surfaces.

Amazingly, Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer is water-based so is touch-dry in just 30 minutes and fully cured in approximately 24 hours! You can’t get more extreme than that! And just in case you weren’t impressed already, all Zinsser products are tintable, so Chris has his tinted a nice middle-grey.

After a light sanding, Chris follows his coat of Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer with 2 coats of high-quality exterior acrylic paint. Zinsser Extreme Adhesive Primer is suitable for almost all topcoats which means no matter the surface (and no matter how extreme your project is) you can still get the finish you want. What an amazing result!
